DNC Launches Digital News Page Takeover of The Denver Post to Thank Senators Bennet and Hickenlooper for Voting for the American Rescue Plan

The Democratic National Committee today launched a new daylong digital advertising campaign taking over the entire politics section of The Denver Post to thank Colorado Senators Michael Bennet and John Hickenlooper for delivering needed relief to Americans by passing the American Rescue Plan. The American Rescue Plan, which a bipartisan majority of Americans support, has already delivered over 100 million direct checks and, weeks ahead of schedule, 100 million vaccine doses in arms.

“There’s one thing Coloradoans need to know: Help is here,” said DNC Chair Jaime Harrison. “The American Rescue Plan is a historic win for working families in Colorado, and it’s already delivering the relief folks desperately need. Thanks to President Biden and Senators Bennet and Hickenlooper, we are getting vaccines in arms and money in the pockets of families who need it — but this is just the beginning. Democrats will continue reminding everyone that Colorado Republicans opposed COVID-19 relief, and that Democrats are focused on delivering millions of additional shots and checks.”

The takeover will place ads on every available area of The Denver Post politics section today. The ads thank Senators Bennet and Hickenlooper for helping to pass the American Rescue Plan, which will provide 82% of Colorado’s adult population and 81% of children– 3.4 million adults and 1.4 million children — with direct payments of up to $1,400.

Blowout Jobs Numbers Latest Sign U.S. Economy Recovering

Today’s blowout jobs report is the latest sign that our economy is getting back on track, thanks to President Biden’s leadership passing the American Rescue Plan. As more and more Americans receive their vaccines, families get money in their pockets, and small businesses get the relief they need to stay open, we can defeat the coronavirus, our economy can recover, and we can build our country back better.

The U.S. economy added more than 900,000 jobs in March, shattering economists’ expectations.

CNBC: “Jobs report blows past expectations as payrolls boom by 916,000 in March”

Axios: “U.S. economy added 916,000 jobs in March, crushing expectations”

NPR: “Roaring Back: Employers Add 916,000 Jobs As Economy Emerges From Winter Slump”

Thanks to President Biden’s American Rescue Plan, Americans are getting vaccinated, families have money in their pockets, and small businesses are getting the relief they need to keep their doors open.

Reuters: “The U.S. economy created the most jobs in seven months in March as more Americans got vaccinated and the government doled out additional pandemic relief money, marking the start of what could be the strongest economic performance this year in decades.”

USA Today: “The $900 billion COVID relief package, passed by Congress in December, likely bolstered hiring, in part by renewing the Paycheck Protection Program, which provides forgivable loans to small businesses, Oxford Economics says.”

Washington Post: “The $1.9 trillion stimulus package signed last month by President Joe Biden should give an additional shot of adrenaline to hiring amid renewed support for businesses and individuals.”

Now is the time to build on these gains with the American Jobs Plan, which will spur growth across the economy, and create more good-paying, union jobs for American workers.

Reuters: “President Joe Biden’s massive infrastructure plan would create millions of jobs, undoing some of the economic damage inflicted by the coronavirus pandemic, economists said, with lower middle-income workers and minorities possibly benefiting the most.”

Wall Street Journal: “Auto manufacturers, semiconductor makers and fiber-optic companies. Renewable-energy producers, pharmaceutical developers, home builders and construction firms. President Biden’s $2.3 trillion infrastructure plan touches an array of American businesses and industries. Many companies stand to benefit from an infusion of federal funds—especially those deemed vital for addressing climate change … The trucking industry would be a major beneficiary of repaired roads, and the American Trucking Associations praised the administration for spending on highways.”

DNC on March Jobs Report

DNC Chair Jaime Harrison released the following statement after the U.S. Department of Labor announced that nonfarm payrolls increased by 916,000 in March:

“This blowout jobs report is the latest encouraging sign that President Biden’s leadership is getting our country back on track, no thanks to congressional Republicans who voted against the American Rescue Plan, which is getting more Americans vaccinated every day, putting money in pockets, and delivering relief for small businesses.

“Now, small businesses across the country are hiring again, and Americans are starting to get back to work. And while we still have work to do to fully recover from the devastation the coronavirus caused, President Biden has shown he knows what is needed to get the job done.

“It’s now time to continue building on these gains with the American Jobs Plan, which will spur growth across the economy, and create more good-paying, union jobs for American workers.”

NEW DNC VIDEO: Republicans Flip-Flop on Their Support for Infrastructure Investments

This week, President Biden unveiled the American Jobs Plan, a bold new proposal that will invest billions of dollars to fix our roads, rebuild bridges, and get high-speed internet to rural communities across the country. Yet Republicans like Mitch McConnell have come out in opposition to it, flip-flopping on their previous support for bipartisan infrastructure investments.

In response, the DNC War Room released a new video blasting Republicans for contradicting themselves in their support for investing in our country’s infrastructure for the sake of political games.

WATCH:

“Republicans were all about making investments to our crumbling infrastructure when Trump was in charge, but now, after President Biden unveiled a once-in-a-generation investment, they’ve decided to flip-flop on their positions so they could play shameful political games,” said DNC Chair Jaime Harrison.

President Biden’s ‘Big, Bold, Extensive’ American Jobs Plan Will Build Our Economy Back Better

President Biden yesterday unveiled the American Jobs Plan, a once-in-a-generation investment in America that will create millions of good-paying jobs, improve American competitiveness, and grow our economy.

As the reviews come in, one thing is clear: Biden’s plan will create good-paying union jobs, invest in Americans and deliver the jobs and opportunities they deserve, and reduce the impacts of climate change.

WATCH:

Senator Elizabeth Warren: “We can create good-paying American jobs—and fight the climate crisis at the same time—by investing in American-made clean, renewable, and emission-free energy products. That’s part of the Biden-Harris #AmericanJobsPlan.”

National Domestic Workers Alliance Director Ai-jen Poo: “The @POTUS #AmericanJobsPlan is brave, thoughtful & necessary, rooted in values of equity & dignity, building our infrastructure & economic resilience, lifting up workers across sectors, especially care workers who are overwhelmingly women & women of color.”

International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) President Robert Martinez Jr.: “The infrastructure package introduced today will impact generations of America’s working families by creating good union jobs that offer decent wages and benefits. The hope this administration brings to America’s workforce stands in stark contrast to where we were a year ago when thousands of our members’ lives were turned upside down due to the pandemic and devastating layoffs. The program introduced today is yet another welcome initiative by the Biden administration that will build back better our vital manufacturing and transportation sectors.”

AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka: “Today’s announcement brings us one step closer to repairing, rebuilding and restoring our country. Working people are continuing to bear the brunt of the greatest national crisis since the Great Depression, and any just recovery will require unprecedented federal investments in the working communities that have lost the most.”

United Auto Workers’ President Rory L. Gamble: “The UAW believes President Biden’s policies will restore fairness in our economy while promoting domestic manufacturing and quality union jobs today and in the future.”

Former Council of Economic Advisers Chair Jason Furman: “Overall I quite like the American Jobs Plan. It is a serious proposal that would help increase economic growth, ensure growth was more fair, and raise additional revenue in a broadly reasonable manner.”

CNN: “’Decades overdue.’ Transportation industry cheers Biden’s infrastructure plan”

Reuters: “The proposals, which must still be debated and approved by Congress before becoming reality, drew cheers from the renewable energy industry and some environmentalists, along with criticism oil and gas drillers. ‘President Biden’s infrastructure proposal is a significant step in meeting our collective clean energy goals,’ Solar Energy Industries Association Chief Executive Abigail Ross Hopper said in a statement. The American Council on Renewable Energy said the plan ‘will move the clean energy sector beyond the endless cycles of temporary stopgap incentives.’”

Wall Street Journal: “Auto manufacturers, semiconductor makers and fiber-optic companies. Renewable-energy producers, pharmaceutical developers, home builders and construction firms. President Biden’s $2.3 trillion infrastructure plan touches an array of American businesses and industries. Many companies stand to benefit from an infusion of federal funds—especially those deemed vital for addressing climate change. … The trucking industry would be a major beneficiary of repaired roads, and the American Trucking Associations praised the administration for spending on highways.”

TechCrunch: “The sweeping infrastructure package put forward today by President Joe Biden comes with a price tag of roughly $2 trillion (and hefty tax hikes), but gives startups and the broader tech industry about $1 trillion worth of reasons to support it.”

Washington Post: “President Biden’s infrastructure plan would turbocharge the country’s transition from fossil fuels, using the muscle and vast resources of the federal government to intervene in electricity markets, speed the growth of solar and wind energy, and foster technological breakthroughs in clean power.”
